BACKGROUND

In 1947 a group of Colombian an American parents founded The Columbus School, a multi-cultural school open to all students, regardless of race, creed, sex or ideology. Today we are a prosperous non-profit, co-educational, non-denominational institution preparing students for their eventual college studies and to become successful leaders of their communities.

From the beginning, our parents and successive boards of directors set out to create an institution that met educational standards of both the United States and Colombia. Since 1964 our school has been fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, known today as SACS-CASI/AdvancEd. Every five years our school submits to a thorough academic audit by educational professionals from throughout the world, to assure that we are maintaining the rigorous standards required by AdvancEd.

Today The Columbus School is recognized beyond Medellin, throughout Colombia and Latin America, as a leader among American-International schools overseas. Our commitment to academic excellence, values and community service have prepared our students for universities around the world, including such prestigious schools as Harvard, Yale, MIT, Tufts, Los Andes and a host of others.
