Lightning Blue Lizards

We are proud to share that from March 2nd to 4th, our robotics team, the Lightning Blue Lizards, participated in the South Florida Regional of the First Robotics Competition held in West Palm Beach.

Our team was awarded two important recognitions: the Equity and Inclusion Award, for the team’s contribution to the school community, other schools, and for always welcoming participants from other teams. Additionally, we received the Team Spirit Award for demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and constant effort.

We ranked 10th out of 36 teams in the overall classification and advanced to the quarterfinals.

We are extremely proud of our team´s outstanding performance and for representing not only our school but also our country at the event.

At TCS we CONNECT people and ideas and are INSPIRED by teamwork!

What is TOM?

TOM is a global movement of communities that connects Makers: Designers, developers and engineers, to people with disabilities (Need-Knowers) to develop technological solutions for the challenges of daily life. The designs are free and in the public domain and anyone can adapt it to their needs.

TOM Medellín 2021

From Thursday, September 30 to Saturday, October 2, we will host TOM Medellín 2021. This initiative is organized by The Columbus School, the EIA University and the Antioquia Rehabilitation Committee.

Tikkun Olam Makers is an organization with beginnings in Israel, which aims to improve the daily living conditions of people with physical and cognitive disabilities around the world.

With a collaboration between biomedical engineering, robotics, graphic design, and programming, the Tikkun Olam Makers, build accessible solutions for challenges that these people face daily in an event called “Makeathon”.

During these three days, 6 teams will work hard to create a tailor-made solution for six people with disabilities (Need Knowers). Some of our students will be working on these teams.

Thanks to all the people who make this great initiative possible!

We invite you to follow us on Instagram at @tomcolombia to learn a little more about this year’s Need Knowers, who will benefit with TOM.

*Note: This year, due to biosecurity protocols there will be no guided tours during the event.
